Comment:My first job in Manhattan was at the Concord Steel Corporation near Battery Park as a file clerk.
I remember Mr Manealoff very well, along with Miss Rosen. They occupied a corner office together across from the file room where I stuffed invoices into file drawers. I found him to be an upstanding businessman and frequently heard him speaking French on the phone. I think of them both fondly even after so many years. I worked there in the 1960's. They called me Robert.

Comment:"Uncle Bill", as I knew him (my mother's true uncle) was a v. loving and brilliant man; enjoyed spreading his wealth to both political and social causes, and randomly met folk. I recall him handing two hundred dollars to a stunned waiter, in the mid-fifties, which amount doubled the largest tip he had ever received, up to then...just for the smile!

After his bourbon before and wine with dinner, he's often lean on my shoulder walking into the living room, intoning with gusto, "Business is crime...". Long before Enron, etc.
