| Comment: | Good 'ol Thurston Drive in Livingston, NJ. I never realized that Alan was politically connected... other than buying his way into the city council and local affairs. The houses they built were a pretty good value for the time. (in 1968, we purchased our "custom" -- really a "cookie cutter style" selected from the group of 4 model homes -- on 1/2 acre of Livingstein property.. farmland at the time believe it or not.... for a total of $36,800 !) Note: we added on a small addition and a deck and removed the asbestos siding and replaced it with vinyl siding (total renovation costs of aprox. $55k over the years) and we just sold it in 2008 for a tidy profit !! Selling Price = $795,000. !! Unfortunately, Livingstein is in Essex County, NJ and is in fairly close proximity to Newark, ScIrvington and "The Oranges" and the residents there do not pay much (if any) property tax and the burden has shifted to the suburbs and to us "crackers". The annual property taxes in 1970 were $750/year. (and the town had/has excellent public schools and a paid police dept and fully volunteer ambulance corps and fire department) The taxes, after our last routine assessment in 2005 had risen to an unaffordable $21,000/year. (over 1/2 of that goes directly to the couty to pay for the amenities enjoyed by the black "Obama-Hussein" types in the ghetto -- you know 'em... the "youths" who come and prey on our elderly and vulnerable & perform carjackings and home invasions because of the injustices that they have "suffered" with because "the man" has kept them down...". Well.. story over. We moved to Pennsylvania where we custom built a home larger and much nicer on 45 acres and it cost us under $600k including an indoor pool and landscaping. Our taxes are $6800/yr and, since my kids are older now, I cannot comment about the school system(s) in the area, but it sure is nice out here ! AND... here in "Free America", my wife and I were both able to obtain concealed handgun carry permits to enable us to enjoy our Constitutionally guaranteed 2nd. ammendment rights. (we are both 73 yrs. old / spotless records / well educated and civic minded / and have never been able to "qualify" for permits in the Peoples Republic of NJ) The "Obama Hussein" types carry guns in NJ without any fear of prosecution since they are almost never prosecuted for anything less than murder... and , since they are judged by a jury of their "peers", they usually get off anyway. (even when video surveillance tapes clearly show guilt). We are approaching the late years of our lives and one of our children is an internist and the other is a surgeon, so I guess we'll be lucky enough to get some level of health care in the coming years, but I really feel sorry for the younger people of this country. Illegals (oops.. sorry...I meant "undocumented" -- sort of like Sadam-Hussein-Obama who was born in Kenya) will get the best care for free while the hard working decent citizens will have to go to "healthcare boards" run by the government to get approval for any/all medical procedures and medicines. (and will pay alot more for it than they do now -- and the communists in DC will have succeeded in their goal of turning the best healthcare system in the world into a third-world level of care) Heck, even though Nixon wasn't the best president, and I didn't like him at the time. (was a Demoncrat for many years until the last election), Nixon was 100 times better for the country than the current group of Chicago THUGS running the country. They won't even prosecute the black thugs weilding nightsticks at the Philly polling center during the last presidential elections.. despite clear video evidence, O'Bam-Bam's stooge --> the "Attorney General", Comrade Eric Holdup mandated that any pending cases against the Black Panthers be dispensed with. (part of their "reparations" strategy === although they forgot about 40+ years of welfare/food stamps/drug treatment / rebuilding the burned-out cities after riots/ affirmative action (yeah.. are you gonna let that "African American" (is "Africa" a country anyway?) surgeon operate on you when you know that he only had to get a score that was 70% vs. the white/asian/etc doctor who had to score above a 95% ??? No thanks. He may be a great doc, even one who could score a good # on his admissions tests, but now has the "taint" of reverse racism that will plague him forever. ---------------------------------------- Interesting that Alan Sagner was famous though! |
